


Even a mailbox overflowing with inspiring stories of country women from all across the United States and Canada, couldn’t outshine Sherry Phillips Mitchell’s story, as told in an essay submitted by her daughter to the Country Woman Magazine’s 2017 Country Woman of the Year Contest. Never in her wildest dreams would Sherry think she would be honored with such an award. Sifting through many e-mails and other contestants Country Woman picked a very qualified contestant. After all, she’s been a farm girl since 1962. Below is a quick clip of the award and a quick glimpse of her farm, Cherry Ridge where she operates a horse farm today.

I was shocked to learn I had won the honor of being the 2017 Country Woman of the Year Award. It was such an honor, and my daughter nominated me. Her words to the viewers in the video above which had over 13,000 views touched my heart.
