A Tasha Tudor note card I purchased. Visit their online store at Tasha Tudor and Family for more wonderful stuff. |
We just returned from our fabulous, New England vacation, and enjoyed the Corgi Cottage Tour of Tasha Tudor’s home and garden. This was our second visit. The first time we toured only her gardens but this tour included her home, left exactly as it was since her passing at ninety- two years.
If you love old things, kitchen crocks, copper pots, antiques, old homes, pitcher pumps, linens, flower gardens and corgis, the 1800’s, you will love Tasha Tudor. Upon moving from New Hampshire to her final destination of Marlboro, Vermont, she acquired property next door to her oldest son, Seth, who built a replica of a cottage that Tasha wanted built. So he went and measured it up and built it. He used no power tools either.

Jeff and Seth conversing after the tour. |
He conducted our house tour and did a fantastic job. We learned so much about Tasha and though we never had the privelege to meet her, somehow I am sure we had a glimpse of her through his personality!
Her collections and her gardens have been beautifully displayed in many of her books and illustrations.
My first book about Tasha Tudor Forever Christmas was given to me as a gift from my husband Jeff in 2001.

Jeff also, unexpectedly took me on a surprise “road trip” one day after work to purchase our first Corgi, Howard Lee Blue! We love the breed so much that we have become Corgi breeders. Jeff now realizes, he tells everyone, exactly how much that Christmas gift has really cost him: 2 trips to Vermont and 3 Corgi purchases!!!!
If you get a chance to visit the New England states you will love it. Here’s a couple great places to stay.
The Chesterfield Inn , Keene, New Hampshire.

I made this recipe two times and added the sunflower seed topping on the second batch. |
I have included the link to their yummy Carrot Muffin recipe prepared at the Chesterfield Inn- OMG. I have made them twice now and they are sooooooo good!
We also stayed at the Swanhill Bed and Breakfast, Marlboro, Vermont
So Here’s the Thing: Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today. If you have been dreaming of doing it someday, than just do it. You won’t be sorry. Today is actually that “someday”!
Take Joy!
Sherry

What a treat. Finger sandwhiches and Stillwater Punch from Tasha’s Cookbook! This is Natalie, she writes the Rookery Ramblings blog hop on over. |
Love this post, Susan! I'm surprised I didn't find it sooner. It was our pleasure to have you on the tour again this year. Tell Jeff that you have purchased three corgis, so you obviously need to visit Vermont a third time, don't you think? We hope to have Tasha's dollhouse on display next year or soon! Take joy ~Natalie from Tasha Tudor and Family

Great review! I did have the opportunity to meet Tasha Tudor right before her 90th birthday, but no pictures were allowed. I am sad I wasn't able to get one picture of the visit. How fortunate now to be able to visit the gardens and her home. Oh how I would love doing that.

It's a DREAM of mine to see Tasha's home! We were in Vermont one year too early – the tours opened the year after we were there. But I did visit her exhibit at the museum. I'm such a fan! Thanks for sharing this post about your visit there! Barbara http://www.joyfulpaws.com

Hi Barbara, good to know another like minded Tasha fan. I've been to the museum too, on my second visit. Now, what must you do to turn this DREAM into a Dream Come True? Do it for you. Figure a way to make it. You won't regret it, I assure you. But you'll regret it if you don't. Blessings! Sherry

Hello All,My name is Monica. My fiance and I have been living in Vermont on and off for about 7 years. This upcoming wkend my future mother in-law Kathy will be coming to visit us. Mrs. Gustavson as I still call her is a former 2nd grade teacher who absolutely LOVES Tasha Tudor. I was hoping to surprise her this weekend for a trip up to Marlboro to see the home and garden. John(my fiance) says the tickets have sold out. I was hoping this isnt true as I would make the number one daughter in law if I could get her to the home of an author/woman she truly loved. Any suggestions and/or help on how i can make her trip to Vermont memorable? Please let me know monica-rowan@sbcglobal.net.Thanks,Monica

Hi Monica, The Tours sell out in February but the next best place to be is the Tasha Tudor Museum in Marlboro.https://tashatudormuseum.org It is really great.I've shared a link. And then, the next best thing is to buy her one or both of the DVDS of Tasha Take Joy or Take Peace for about $30 from http://www.tashatudorandfamily.com Hope that helps you enjoy Tasha together for her visit.
